Las Vegas
Why Las Vegas?
That’s a good question. Hi, my name is Laurie Norman. Obviously, there are many choices of communities to live in America. The fact that you’re reading this means you are interested in the beautiful state of Nevada. The incentives are endless, but a few big ones are no personal income taxes, weather, affordable housing, employment, numerous family lifestyle choices, retirement, ease of travel or simply a change of pace. Whether your “why” is one or a few reasons; I am happy you are here!
Personal income taxes – who doesn’t love to save money on taxes. Nevada is one of 9 states that lets you keep a little extra money in your pocket. This is generally accomplished by establishing your primary residence (usually by living 180+ days per year). This incentive alone creates more jobs and makes retention higher because employees don’t feel it necessary to live in other states with added taxes.
In terms of taxes – not only does the Las Vegas Strip offer world class entertainment 365 days a year – the businesses on the Strip pay more than a billion dollars a year in taxes!
Getting back to the weather in the Las Vegas community – the weather is always a topic of conversation. Yes, we live in the desert and it is consistently
hot in June-September. Think of it this way…our summer is equivalent to your Minnesota winter or Seattle gloom. On average we have 294 days of sunshine, with the others being cloudy, rainy or even on occasion a dusting of snow. The bright side is you will have 8 months of really nice weather that rarely goes above 90 or below 30 and this is Awesome.
In terms of the Las Vegas/Clark County real estate market Average home prices in Las Vegas are holding at $399K. This is much less than the United States average and Las Vegas continues to remain in the top 10 areas people are moving to. In addition, many entrepreneurs, tech rms and start-up companies are nding their way to the desert. The Howard Hughes company recently committed to building an $800M Hollywood type studio in the Las Vegas area. Many developments are making Sin City a growing hub for local and remote jobs.
Family and Retirement, the circle of life. Las Vegas is best known for the Strip, but did you know there are hidden gems throughout the valley? 100 miles of dirt and asphalt bike trails, hiking, out-of-this-world parks, gardens, music venues and sporting events to name a few. The best part is all these activities can be catered to the young, old and in-between.
Getting to and from a city has never been easy. The Harry Reid international airport is centrally located between Summerlin and Henderson; each being a 20-25 minute car ride. Conveniently located and allows flights to/from the entire world. Logistically, Las Vegas leads to easy access to the surrounding states by car or motorcycle. Within 6 hours you can be in Boise, Idaho or 4 hours will take you to Big Bear, CA or Flagstaff, AZ and St. George, Utah is an
easy 2 hrs. It makes exploring easy.
Lastly, it is exciting to discover new places, people and things. Day-to-day life, attitudes and behaviors can be different in a new city and allow us to
keep growing. Just think of it as a new canvas and you can paint whatever picture you would like.
When it comes to the many options for real estate in Las Vegas and the greater Clark County areas you have many divergent options. If you want to be in the middle of the action there are many spectacular high rises right off the Strip that offer breathtaking views. Summerlin’s high end developments are also another attractive choice. Henderson, one of the safest places to live in the country.
My name is Laurie Norman and I would love to be your trusted realtor and show you around our amazing City!
